The following rules are based on last year's rules, which were written in March 1997, when we (some people on a Zetnet [my ISP] newsgroup) decided we wanted to do a Fantasy F1 competition.

The changes:-

No more tyres! Last year one of the main differences between the teams was the tyre choice. All the best teams used Goodyear tyres, so people who chose Bridgestone regularly lost 30-70 points a race. This was too much of a disparity caused by one small element of the Fantasy team.
No more collective engines! Engines are now separate for each team. E.g. When buying the Mecachrome engine, you must specify if it's the Williams or Benetton variant.
Maximum of 3 teams per entrant.
Totally new points for qualifying and finishing. I have tried to be fair - Engines now have more influence, and I've also tried to reflect FIA points by giving more for the podium places (1,2,3) than the rest. If you have any ideas, use the form to tell me!!!
New Driver prices. On the whole drivers are cheaper this year, due partly to inaccuracies last year, and Benetton (one of the top 4 teams) having two relatively unproven drivers.
Chassis prices have changed little. Engine prices are easier to understand (now includes lists of which teams uses which engine).
Overall, the prices reflect that Williams are still the team to beat.

5. The Ferrari engine and the Sauber Petronas engine DO NOT count as one and the same choice. When buying, state if you are buying the Ferrari engine, or the Petronas (Sauber) engine.

The Ford engine used by Stewart, Tyrell and Minardi DOES NOT count as one and the same choice. When buying, state if you are buying the Stewart, Tyrell, or Minardi variant.

The Mecachrome engines used by Williams and Benetton DO NOT count as one and the same choice. When buying, state if you are buying the Williams, or Benetton variant.

6. Price (Remember you have 30 mZets to buy 2 drivers, a chassis, and an engine) The figure in brackets before the name is the driver's number. The italicised figure after the name in brackets represents the change in price since last year.

AFAIK The form works with MSIE 4 (not 3.02!), and Netscape 3 and 4.
