Tuesday 3rd November |
Well, the final results are up now -
on the new site (hopefully everyone managed to find it ok...) It was a
shame that the final wheel-to-wheel contest between Schu and Hakkinen never
emerged, but I have to admit, even though I wanted Schumacher to win, Hakkinen
made a pretty good champion.
Anyway, thanks to everyone for taking part, and I hope everyone enjoyed the fantasy F1 competition - it should have made watching this year's F1 season even more interesting. The competition will be back next year - bigger, better and brighter (I hope). However, I'm going to have a couple of months off, but around January time, things should start happening. I'll send everyone an e-mail, and if you're interested in joining drop me an e-mail at the new address... (And don't forget to see just exactly where you finished :))) [email protected] |
Tuesday 29th September |
Sorry for the delay with the results from Luxembourg, but I've been away. I didn't actually see the race, so I can't really comment.... Looking at the results though, it should be quite interesting in Japan, although it's a long wait... |
|
Ok, this is just a quick notice concerning the future
of the Fantasy F1 competition, (and also these webpages). Sounds grim?
Well not necessarily! In just under two weeks I'll be going to university,
and since this means I won't have access to a phone, and so I will (I think)
be cancelling my Zetnet subscription. This means I will lose the server
space that stores these very pages :0
HOWEVER :))) At Uni, I will hopefully have access to the Net and HTML authoring software.... And all being well, I should be given some space on their servers... Which all means that the Fantasy F1 homepage, will sooner or later be moving. I don't intend to cancell the Zetnet subscription too soon though, so there will be plenty of warning as to the change of address. As to the future of the competition as a whole, for the rest of the season it is definitely fine - it will DEFINITELY continue until the conclusion of the season. As for next season, it depends on how university pans out - the results do take a couple of hours to do, and I need access to a computer with HTML editing software. I also need server space, and web access in general. If I can get this at York, I would like to continue for the 1999 season (I already havce a few neat ideas about improvements, both to the site and the competition in general). So for 1998, look forward to the action. As for 1999, all being well, the competition will be back and it will be bigger and better than ever before :))))) Phew. Sorry if that was a bit long, and please feel free to contact me if you have any queries. [email protected] |
Monday 14th September |
The results for Monza are now done, and things are beginning
to close up at the top as we near the end of the competition...
As for the actual race, it certainly means that both McLaren and Ferrari are under pressure to perform, and it'll all make a good finale... :)) |
Wednesday 2nd September |
Another very expensive race - both for Schumacher (has
he blown it?) and all the teams and drivers who's cars were wrecked...
Still, it was good to watch, and it does mean the final three races will
be very interesting!
Oh, and the results are done... |
Sunday 23rd August |
Spa is coming up this weekend, but unfortunately I am going to be away, so the results will not be available as soon as they usually are. I will hopefully be able to do them by Friday. Sorry if this causes any inconvenience... |
Thursday 20th August |

Tuesday 18th August |
Results for the Hungarian GP (Hungaroring) are now on the site... The competition for the real championship is heating up, as it is in the fantasy competetion. Almost amazingly for Hungary, the race was actually really exciting! (Perhaps its reputation is undeserved...) Hopefully the remaining races will see the same level of excitement (and competition) as we've generally seen throughout the championship :) |
Monday 17th August |
Sorry for the delay in the processing of the Hungarian results, but they should be up on the site some time tomorrow evening... |
Monday 3rd August |
The results for Germany (Hockenheim) are now available. Glad to see Jordan are finally doing something, but it was a pretty bleak weekend for Ferrari... |
Monday 27th July |
Results for Austria are now up - another excellent race, especially the first 20 or so laps... I just hope that the rest of the season can continue in the competitive spirit that we saw... |
Sunday 12th July |
...UK (Silverstone) results are now up. An exciting race
- especially the last 10 laps (and they said F1 was nothing on a penalty
shoot out... hmmm...)
On top of that the 'silly season' is well and truly under way... it seems that there may well be an all Honda team in addition to the reconstituted Tyrell team in 1999, and Alex. Zanardi may well show his face in F1 again... And this season isn't even nearly over yet! |
Monday 29th June |
Ok, the results for the French GP are now available...
Not a bad race, especially the end with Hakkinen and Irvine. Seems like
Damon Hill and David Coulthard just aren't having the luck... Still, the
second half of the season should be at least as good as the first half,
as Ferrari seem to have a car that is at least as good as the McLarens...
Oh, and we have another team from overseas entering... :) |
Friday 26th June - Sunday 28th June |
Sorry there's been no update to the pages recently, however
I have now finished my exams, and am pretty much free for the rest of the
summer. So I have put some work into the webpage - some of the graphics
have changed, and I am in the process of converting from Jpegs to Gifs.
And hopefully I have *finally* sorted out the counter.
On the F1 side, I have corrected the calender, as for some reason it
didn't list the French GP!!!
|
Monday 8th June |
(Smiles broadly) Well, that *was* Canada. I really enjoyed
that race - lots of crashes (in which no-one was injured), lots of high
speed overtaking (Schu and Hill, Villeneuve and Fisichella....) - overall
it was just top racing...
Anyway, the results are up, and the competition has, as a result of the double McLaren failure closed up a bit... (Oh and the counter's broken again :( Grrr....) |
Sunday 31st May |
Added one more team. That's it really. More revision now.... |
Monday 25th May |
Another few teams, including one (I think) from the Russian
federation :)) Cool! This means the competition now spans three continents
(or something like that).
Also the Monaco results - not a bad race, it was just a shame that Schuey and Wurz's little 'tete a tete' ended in misery. Still, it looked good when it happened... Anyway, back to revision for me.... uuuuhhhh.... :(( |
Thursday 21st May |
OK, I have added another few teams. It's nice to see the
competition is still attracting business :)
I have also gone back to the Zetnet counter, as the stupid Java one takes far too long to load. Hmph. Sorry for all the mucking about... |
Tuesday 19th May |
Added two more late entrants, so I've now put all the teams entered after the start of the season on a separate page. This brings us to 133 teams!! :) |
Sunday 17th May |
Since the Zetnet counter is not very reliable - it's just
reset itself - I've decided to ditch it. And since I couldn't find a decent
free counter, I've put a tracker program on, so you can see all sorts of
useless info.
And I'm also trying out a Java counter. If this is too slow, annoying, or crashes, then please tell me!! (And I'll get rid of it) Oh, and the news archive now works. |
Monday 11th May |
Spainish GP. :( (Unless you're a McLaren
fan) Still, I suppose we knew it was all going to go McLaren's way once
Murray said he thought it would rain!! Rain was Schuey's only chance, and
Murray cursed it!!
Anyway, the results are up. And the leader is still the same - Congratulations are certainly due to Christopher Peck, who has lead the competition since the beginning. Still, I suppose it is accurately reflecting the real F1 world - shows how realistic/effective the rules are I guess! :) Oh, and I've also tweaked this page so it should look better In Netscape Navigator 2.0 and 3.0... And when I've got time, I'll start to archive the news reports, as this page is getting a bit big... |
Monday 27th April |
Pretty good race in San Marino - though I'm beginning
to think Coulthard has a strange aversion to winning - was he planning
to hand the race to Schumacher as he did to Hakkinen in Australia? ;)
Only kidding - anyway results are up now on the various pages... Also got rid of that stupid ICQ panel. Was a bit iffy that! Also, if you are a Zetnet subscriber and want more F1 action, then check out the recently resurrected newsgroup, zetnet.fido.grand-prix! |
Sunday 12th April |
Finally, the F1 season really began!! An excellent race
in Argentina, with quite a few overtaking moves and some genuine excitement
:))
Anyway, the results are done - available both on the website, and for download as excel spreadsheets. I have also added an ICQ communication panel at the bottom - I'm not sure entirely what it does :0 but try it anyway! If it's any good I'll keep it, if not, then I'll scrap it pretty quick. |
Saturday 11th April |
Well, if you've got here, you should
by now have noticed the new index page. That'll make it easier for people
to access the site.
Four new teams have also entered, bringing the total to 130!! It'll be interesting to see how they'll do... I've also added the Brazil results as an Excel file in the downloads section. |
Monday 30th March |
Well, the Brazilian results are on the
site. On the track - Not a bad race, some interesting moments. Better than
Australia anyway.
The fantasy competition, is also mirroring real life in that McLaren dominated teams are running away with it. Congratulations to Christopher Peck who's the leader for the 2nd race in a row. |
Thursday 26th March |
Back after a quiet few days both on
and off the website :) I have updated all the tables - results and teams,
making them smaller and easier to view - they now fit on a 'standard' 800
x 600 screen, and are not as hard to read.
Guess it's just waiting to see what happens in Brazil. At least I won't have to get up at such an early time as for Australia!! :) On the downside though, revision for my exams starts on Monday, so updates in between GPs will become virtually non existent. Don't worry about the results though, they will always be available on the Monday/Tuesday after the race weekend. |
Friday 20th March |
:( Not happy as I have just found out
that the counter has been reset!! :((( Oh well. It was up to about 300
hits from January 22nd to Tuesday the 10th (last time I checked), so that's
pretty good. Have just made a few changes to the website - links page is
getting better :)
Also, any e-mail on the format of the results would be good. I have added the actual qualifying and race results, as I thought that would be useful. |
Tuesday 10th March |
Well, as promised, the results are done.
Check them out on the results page - it's 125k big though, so it may take
a while to load up! You can also download the results as an Excel spreadsheet
from the downloads section.
An interesting start, but one race does not a season make. |
Sunday 8th March |
Well.... that was Australia. Not a bad
start to a season, but then it wasn't amazing. Lots of people with McLarens
in their teams are smiling now, but will they still be on top in six or
seven races? ......
Results will be available on Tuesday evening on the webpage (I hope), and I'm not sure about the e-mailed version yet - this is of course barring any unforeseen disasters. Several people have also sent some questions about the rules, and about Zeffone. I will try and answer those as soon as possible, but the results are the top priority at the moment. |
