Zeffone
Zetnet Fantasy Formula One Results Compiler

ZEFFONE |
A
brief history : As part of my A-level in computing I
am required to create a substantial program as
coursework. I am creating a program called 'Zeffone'
for this project. Zeffone automates the results compilation process for the Fantasy F1 competition. Last year compiling the results took me 2-3 hours, and subsequently the competition ground to a halt when I had my exams. Fortunately Pam Massey took over, and she compiled the results saving the competition. However it still takes her far too long, hence Zeffone. The program is being coded in Turbo Pascal 6 in case you're interested. (Only because that's what the exam board prefer! I'd have used Visual Basic) January 21st : The menu system is finished and works fine. The file handling for two of the three files now works, and is about to be finished. After this starts the main task of creating the bit of the program that actually does the results. Sigh. It's going to be a long month. February 1st : The start of blitz week no. 2. Last week I spent virtually every free hour doing coding. The program has advanced, but not as much as it needs to. I am about halfway through the points allocation bit. I still have some small bugs to sort out, and the txt export system. Oh well.... February 8th : Well, these two blitz weeks have seen a massive leap forward in the program's development. So much so that tomorrow night the beta version should be ready. Pam's then offered to test it... :) If it all goes well, it should all be in place for March 8th. February 14th : OK two of the three main parts of the program are done - data entry, and results compilation (and export) are all working fine. The only major bit left to do is the file management bit which allows you to alter files after they have been created. February 22nd : :) Yes, the beta version of the program is finished! I finished it off while visiting some of my family in Scarborough - (Two days without the modem, games, and other hassles!) Had to cut a few features, but all the key bits are there, and work. On Monday I will start the testing, and after that, a finished version can be put on the webpage. So this section, I am pleased to say, may well be quiet for a while! |
Zeffone was written by Alex. Watson, and I assert/reserve all rights (copyrights) etc. etc. on the program, and all its associated materials. The files are provided for private use to keep track of the Zetnet Fantasy F1 competition. If you wish to use the program to run your own fantasy F1 competition, please e-mail me first!!
Send mail to : [email protected]
Please also note that the software is provided 'as is'. And I am not liable for any damage it might do to your computer.
IT IS PROVIDED FOR USE OF COMPETITORS IN THE 1998 ZETNET FANTASY FORMULA ONE COMPETITION, TO TRACK THE PROGRESS OF THE LEAGUE. IT IS PROVIDED FOR PRIVATE HOME USE. ONE COPY PER COMPETITOR!!
OK, nasty legal notice over. Below you can e-mail me to get the program, and the documentation. NB Although Zeffone does have bugs etc. it is virus free (I think) and it will not do anything nasty to your computer. It runs in DOS so no Windows files are affected. I have tested it thoroughly on my own computer. It works. As well as it ever will :)

The current version of Zeffone is 1.013. It does have bugs!!! Most notable is that if you have not created the library files, and try to access them, it will crash nastily!! PLEASE CREATE THE LIBRARY FILES BEFORE USING THE PROGRAM. To create these files, select option 3 'Settings' from the main menu, then option 1 'Set up following installation' from the subsequent menu. You will be presented with a choice of 3 files. Each file must be set up!!!
