This is the first edition of this FAQ, so if there is anything you think I've left out, please E-Mail me. Otherwise, here goes...
Zetnet Fantasy F1 is a competition run by a few Zetnet members (at the moment me and Pam Massey) where you get to pick your own Formula One team, and pit it against a load of other teams entered by people on Zetnet, and anyone else who drops by and enters.
How do I pick and enter a team?
To enter you must pick a team comprising two drivers, a chassis, and an engine. All the elements must be chosen from 1998's real F1 line ups - Yes Senna and Fangio driving a 3.5 litre engine Williams (or McLaren) would be interesting but it is beyond the realms of current technology! You must also stay within the price limit of 30 million zets. Drivers like Schumacher and Villeneuve will set you back a very large portion of your budget, as will a Williams or a Ferrari. Click here to see the prices of the various drivers etc., but it's easier to read all the other important stuff first, and then get to the details.
Once you've deliberated, cogitated and deliberated some more, and more to the point, decided on your team, think of a name for it. After this, you've finished! - Well, nearly. To enter the team (for FREE!!) via the form on this webpage (to be available once the rules are finalised, probably sometime in February) or via e-mail and then see how your team does against all the other teams that people enter. Last year we had 41 teams.
How much will it cost me to enter?
Absolutely nothing of course!!! It's completely free, and anyone, not just Zetnet subscribers, can join.
I've entered my team, now what?
Once you've entered your team, the hard work (at least for you) is over! Every time there is a race (click here to see when the races are), either myself or Pam Massey will work out the results (using our new computer package, currently still being programmed by me in Turbo Pascal! Details will be on the main page, just click here to see) The points totals, and hopefully some detailed breakdowns will posted in the 1998 Results section.
Teams are awarded points for final positions in both qualifying and the actual race (not practices though!). Both drivers, the chassis and the engine will earn the fantasy teams some points. Click here to see how many points you get for each qualifying and race position.
For example:
If Giancarlo Fisichella is one of your drivers, and he qualifies in third he would get 21 points. However, if you have picked the Benetton chassis you would get 16 points from Fisichella finishing in third (as well as any points Wurz would get for his qualifying position).
There are a few other rules, so please read the rules in full before entering. Click on the '1998 Rules' bit on the picture at the bottom of the screen. (Or click here)
Click on the ENTER! button on the graphic at the bottom of the screen, and use the form on the page that loads. I will then send you a confirmation, providing you haven't overspent or something. If the form doesn't work, send me an e-mail here.
It's entirely probable that I've left a lot out of this FAQ. If you have any unanswered questions, please e-mail me here! Otherwise, just keep looking at the site for future information.
